OUR MILESTONES
Gulf International Bank (GIB) was established in the Kingdom of Bahrain in 1975 by seven shareholders — the six member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council - GCC (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates – UAE) and Iraq. Through Bahrain Amiri Decree Law No. 30, dated November 24, 1975, the establishment of Gulf International Bank B.S.C. was formalised, laying the foundation for the establishment of a leading regional financial institution.
1976
GIB officially began operations, in December, focusing on wholesale banking and becoming one of the region's first banks with an international mandate.
